gwen l schmidt

i am a postdoctoral researcher

at the university of pennsylvania

center for cognitive neuroscience

in the chatlab

Broadly construed, my research focuses on neural models of language comprehension, particularly semantic processing.

My primary research interests include the neural correlates of figurative language processing, particularly metaphor,  the role of the right hemisphere in language processing, and the connection between right hemisphere language and other right hemisphere cognitive functions. I have an  interest in exploring these issues in autism, focal lesion patients, and other special populations.

My current work includes patient and fMRI studies of
metaphor and analogy.
